FII “Talk With an Expert” Session on SEZ 2.0

The session featured Mr. Hitender Mehta alongside L. B. Singhal, Former Zonal Development Commissioner (Noida SEZ & Falta SEZ) and Former Director General, Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs. In addition to being an expert panelist, Mr. Mehta also hosted the session in his capacity as Chairman of the Free Trade Zones Committee, FII.

The discussion focused on the evolving landscape of Special Economic Zones in India, particularly as the SEZ framework completes two decades of its existence. The session highlighted the strong performance of SEZs, including significant export contributions and their role in driving economic growth, while also exploring the untapped potential and the need for forward-looking policy reforms under the SEZ 2.0 framework.

Mr. Hitender Mehta emphasized the importance of developing a robust manufacturing ecosystem, enhancing integration with the domestic tariff area, and enabling policy flexibility to unlock the next phase of growth for SEZs in India.
