ASSOCHAM–ICGN Dialogue on Strengthening Corporate Governance
On 9 March 2026, our Managing Partner, Mr. Hitender Mehta, participated in a high-level interaction with a delegation from the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) at ASSOCHAM House, New Delhi. The engagement focused on fostering dialogue around strengthening corporate governance practices in India.
The ICGN delegation was led by Jen Sisson and included Harinderjit Singh, along with other distinguished participants from the investment and corporate ecosystem.
The ASSOCHAM side was led by Preeti Malhotra, Chairperson – Corporate Affairs Committee, along with Ashok Haldia, Chairman – ASSOCHAM Task Force on Financial Reporting, and our Managing Partner, Mr. Hitender Mehta, in his capacity as Co-Chairman, National SEZ Council and Managing Committee Member. Senior representatives from the ASSOCHAM Secretariat, including Basudev Mukherjee, Avinash Sharma, and Jatin Kochar, facilitated the discussions. The meeting was also graced by Saurabh Sanyal.
The discussions covered key themes such as global corporate governance best practices, strengthening the effectiveness and independence of boards and independent directors, enhancing the role of Nomination and Remuneration Committees, protection of shareholder rights, alignment with ISSB reporting standards, and promoting stronger investor stewardship, including wider awareness of the SEBI Stewardship Code.
The interaction provided an insightful exchange of perspectives on advancing high standards of corporate governance and reinforcing investor confidence in India’s corporate ecosystem, while also exploring avenues for future collaboration.
